Dragon's Lair

A web companion for D&D 5e played at a physical table: sheets, rolls, initiative and codex. An action-based rules engine, built to become self-hostable.

README.md

What it is

The companion app for my Dungeons & Dragons campaign. It is not a virtual tabletop: maps stay on the real table, the app keeps sheets, rolls, initiative and the campaign codex, on the phone.

How it's built

  • Action engine: rules compute, they don't write. Every effect is an action declared in a package, and applying it happens elsewhere.
  • Content by reference: sheets store a page-and-source reference, never third-party text.
  • Permissions per person and campaign, with a matrix checked by tests.
  • Branch-based deploys: feature → dev (with an invented demo campaign) → release, PR only.

Where it's going

First the complete sheet, then a real-time connected table, then expansions. Last, release as a self-hostable product (AGPL-3.0).

Status

v2 has been in production since October 3. The rules engine grows module by module: class features become declared actions, without touching the core.
